Tafsir
So all the cities were visited. Wherever there were the most famous magicians, they were gathered and brought before Pharaoh. The magicians asked Pharaoh if there would be a sure reward for us if we were victorious. Meaning a certain reward: The magicians said, "If we prevail over them, will you be afraid of us and have us killed? The other meaning is that they said, 'Will you give us a worldly reward in your presence?
What is said in the video
In Surah Al-A'raf, we have come to verse 113.
The magicians came to Pharaoh. The magicians: if we are the ones who win, will there surely be a reward for us? they said. They said; in the verse below it will come anyway: and you will have a place by my side, he will tell them. Pharaoh said: yes, and you will surely be among those close to me, it says in the verse below as well. So all the cities were toured, and wherever there were the most famous magicians, they were gathered and brought into Pharaoh's presence. The magicians said this: if we are the ones who win, will there surely be a reward for us? Of course, they trust in their magic for that too.
There is no one with magic that could beat them. Of course they will beat whoever comes up against them. That is how they think.
Yes.
So the meaning of 'a sure reward': the magicians, in its inner meaning: 'when we defeat them, will you then fear us too, will you kill us, have us killed?'; while its meaning addressed to the outward is: 'in your presence, will you give us a worldly reward?' they said.
