Al-A'raf 160: We made the sons of Israel separate in groups to twelve tribes. When his people asked for water from him, We told Moses; “Hit the stone with your staff.” Immediately, twelve fountains gushed forth from it. Every tribe determined the place they would drink from. Then, We made a shade from the clouds above them, gave to them manna and quail. (We said) “Eat from the clean provisions We have given to you.” But (by not listening to Our orders) they were not committing oppression against Us but against themselves.

We made the sons of Israel separate in groups to twelve tribes. When his people asked for water from him, We told Moses; “Hit the stone with your staff.” Immediately, twelve fountains gushed forth from it. Every tribe determined the place they would drink from. Tafsir
When he says, "We divided the Children of Israel into twelve tribes," he means the tribes of the twelve sons of Hadrat Ya'qub, the sons of Hadrat Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm'. Therefore, they are the descendants of Hadrat Ya'qub (peace be upon him). When they asked Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' for water, Allah (swt) revealed to him to strike his staff on a stone. When Hazrat Moses struck the stone, water gushed from the stone into twelve eyes. These are Allah's making His presence felt publicly and visibly on this people and Allah's clear miracles to them.
When Hadrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' struck the stone with his staff, twelve springs gushed out of that stone. Each tribe determined from which spring they would take their water. In the desert of Sinai, this tribe was suffocating under the sun and Allah (swt) shaded them with clouds. He provided them with coolness. For their food and drink, He sent down manna and quail meat from the sky as the food of Paradise. Allah (swt) also addressed them and told them to eat of the pure of what We provide. But they did not listen to the command. So Allah (swt) put them to the test and forbade them certain foods. Although they were told not to be unjust to your own souls by eating what was forbidden to them, they disobeyed the Verses of Allah. In this case, they were unjust to their own souls, not to Allah.

Surah Al-A'raf, verse 160, is where we have arrived. Allah Almighty in His verse says as follows. We divided the Children of Israel into twelve tribes, as clans. When his people asked him for water, We told Moses: strike the rock with your staff, by revelation. At once twelve springs gushed forth from it. Each tribe knew its drinking place. That is, twelve clans, twelve tribes. According to one report, these twelve tribes descend from the children of Jacob (peace be upon him). From these 12 springs they marked out, this is yours, this is mine, this is mine, their places. Then We shaded them with clouds.
We sent down to them manna and quail meat. We said to them: eat of the pure things We have provided you. But by not listening to Our commands they did wrong not to Us but to themselves. Of course. By disregarding Allah's verses.
Yes.
His saying, We divided the Children of Israel into 12 tribes as clans, refers to the tribes of the 12 sons of Jacob (peace be upon him). So they are the grandchildren of Jacob (peace be upon him). It says asbat, you know, asbat: his grandchildren.
When they asked Moses (peace be upon him) for water, Allah Almighty revealed to Moses to strike the rock with his staff, so Allah Almighty shows a miracle. Yes, and when Moses strikes the rock with his staff, water gushes from the rock out of twelve springs. These are Allah Almighty making His existence felt openly and visibly among this people, and Allah Almighty's clear miracles to them. When Moses (peace be upon him) struck the rock with his staff, from that rock 12 springs gushed forth, and each tribe knew from which spring it would take its water. In this Sinai desert, under the sun, (?) Allah Almighty made shade with clouds.
He raised the mountain above them. What did He not do, what miracles! But may there be no rebelliousness in a person's nature. One cannot change that nature. Unless We will, you cannot will, says Allah Almighty. The human whom He left free in his will, his desires and wishes against the intent, because He left him free within his partial will, his desires and wishes He wrote for him as destiny. In this case the only power that could change this is Allah. But a word has come from Allah. Paradise and Hell. That He will not interfere with people's wills and that everyone will be called to account for the acts he has brought about; this word from our Lord became binding, it has come down. That is, He has given such a promise.
Yes. He provided for their cooling. For their food and drink He sent down to them from the sky manna and quail meat as food of Paradise. Also, addressing them, Allah Almighty said: eat of the pure provisions We have given you. That is, by eating from what was forbidden to you as a test, toward your own selves do not be wrongdoers. But they did not listen to the commands. By opposing Allah's verses they wronged not Allah but their own selves.
