Translation

(Moses) said, “if you would contemplate (you would accept that) Allah is the Lord of the east, the west and what is between those two.”

Tafsir

Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' continues his speech without losing the opportunity. He is explaining Allah (swt) to Pharaoh. O Pharaoh! If you use your intellect, you will realize that Allah is the Lord of both the east and the west. For Allah has created the intellect to know His Essence. In this case, if a person does what his ego likes and not his intellect, if he does not use his intellect even though his intellect shows him the truth, then such people have made their ego a god. (Have you not seen him who makes his ego a god?) According to the verse, they are people who follow their ego.

This is what it means when it says to Pharaoh, "If you use your intellect, if you follow the right path that your intellect shows you without being subject to your ego, you will realize that Allah is the Lord of all creation. There is no God other than Him. So, O Pharaoh! Do not persist in vain, Allah is making His Verses so clear to mankind. Return to Allah, the Lord of you and your ancestors and all creation. If you serve Allah and do what He says, you will find Allah very forgiving and forgiving.

What is said in the video

Moses, continuing, said this: If you use your reason, you will understand that He is the Lord of the east, of the west and of all that lies between them. Of the east and the west, of all that lies between them – He is the Lord. Moses (peace be upon him), not letting the chance slip, continues to speak. He is explaining Allah Almighty to Pharaoh. O Pharaoh! If you used your reason, you would realize that Allah is the Lord of both the east and the west. For Allah created reason as that which knows His Essence. In this case a person follows not his reason but what his nafs likes. If, although his reason shows him what is right, he does not use his reason, such people have made their nafs their god.

According to the verse "Have you not seen the one who makes his nafs his god", they are people dragged along after their nafs. Now, here, where it says He is the Lord of the east and the west – in one verse He is the Lord of the two easts and the two wests.

Now, because people do not know this, the meaning of this verse, that is, the two easts, the Lord of the two wests – when it says Lord, because they do not know it, they say that in summer the sun rises over here, in winter, summer it sets over there, in winter it rises over there, and in winter it sets over here, they say. That is, in summer it sets lower down, more towards the north. And in winter more like this towards the south, even more, again towards the south, it sets. This is what they call two easts, two wests. Whereas, since this world is the likeness and shadow of the hereafter, Allah Almighty, hüve'l-evvelü ve'l-âhiru, while being the First and the Last, is both the Manifest and the Hidden, as He says; the manifest worlds are these, and the hidden worlds are the hereafter.

There too – if this world is the likeness and shadow of the hereafter, there too there is east and west. There too there is day and night. So Allah Almighty says: I am the Lord of the two worlds. He says: I am the Lord of both the manifest world and the true hidden world. That is the two easts, the two wests. Not that in summer the sun rises here, in winter it sets here, in summer it sets here – I mean, rises. These are tales.

So the meaning of his saying to Pharaoh "if you used your reason" is: without following your nafs, if you entered the right path your reason shows you, you too would understand that Allah is the Lord of all created beings. There is no god but Him. So, O Pharaoh, stop resisting in vain. Allah makes His verses known to people so clearly and plainly. Turn to Allah, who is the Lord of you, of your forefathers and of all created beings. If you become Allah's servant and do what He says, you will find Allah most forgiving and pardoning.
