There, from Allah’s side, Allah was giving you a light sleep as a sign of confidence. From the sky, Allah was sending down water (rain) to cleanse you, to take out Shaytan’s filth (his evil suggestions) from you, to bind your hearts with each other and to make you steadfast for war.
Tafsir
Allah (swt) cleansed the hearts of the believers with His mercy by giving them a light sleep, so that the multitude of enemies would not discourage them, so that their confidence in themselves would not be shaken, and so that their hearts would be cleansed from the evil that Satan had put in the hearts of the believers. He did this so that the believers would not be discouraged in battle, so that they would persevere in battle and their hearts would be bound together, and so that they would achieve victory by defeating their enemies.
The binding of hearts to each other is a characteristic that Allah has given to Islam. Just as when a person is struck a blow by another person, the person who receives the blow gets angry and attacks the man who struck the blow, so when a Muslim brother is wounded or martyred during a war, the Muslim brother who sees this, as if he himself had been struck, gets angry and attacks the enemy, disregarding his life. He attacks the enemy with more zeal. This trait is inherent in the Muslim's nature because of the light of Islam. Non-Muslims do not have this characteristic.
Allah (swt) purified the hearts of the Muslims in the battle of Badr by giving them such a light sleep. Also, because the weather was hot and the enemy was many, Allah cooled the air so that a handful of Muslims would not be tired and overwhelmed during the battle. At the time of their fatigue, He relieved their fever and sent down rain from the sky, relieving their fatigue and increasing their zeal.
What is said in the video
Then He was causing you to fall into a light sleep as security from Him. Into sleep. To cleanse you, to remove from you the filth of Satan, the whispering he gave, to bind your hearts together and make you stand firm in battle, He was sending down on you from the sky plenty of rain. In that heat, in that Battle of Badr. And by making them fall asleep He takes that stress off them. Stress: a person has a troubled moment like this and, after lying down and resting a bit, feels relieved, right; and so Allah Almighty, with a peace He gives to the heart, by letting him taste that spiritual world, strengthens them with one another.
So then a person, with his state before falling asleep, with that stress, thinking he thinks normally, by struggling to survive, or, (?) nafs or having a little worry in his heart, by falling into that sleep, and our Lord giving peace to his heart, cleansing him of Satan's filth, when the person wakes up, that his power and strength against the enemy have increased, and that there he counts death as nothing, and for his brother, for his life, for his honour, there (?) the experience of daring death, with that experience it is also possible that the opposing situation (?) him. So, with Allah Almighty's help through angels, in this situation, with the Battle of Badr, of the polytheist armies that would stand in the way of Islam, of many of their commanders and the polytheist leaders, the heads were cut off. Abu Jahl's first of all.
Yes.
So that the great number of polytheist supporters would not daunt the believers, so that their confidence in themselves would not be shaken, so that they would be cleansed of the (?) Satan put into the believers' hearts, Allah Almighty gave them a light sleep and cleansed their hearts with His mercy. By this means, so that the believers would not suffer (?), so that during battle, standing firm, their hearts would be bound to one another and, by routing their enemies, they would reach victory, He did this. Because Allah Almighty would establish His religion until the Day of Judgment through His Beloved.
Because after him there is no other prophet. The Seal of the Prophets, Muhammad (peace be upon him): three books were combined together with the fourth, it became the Holy Quran, and He sent him as a mercy to the worlds. And all the worlds were created from His light, people from His spirit. So, since to protect His religion and His glory until the Day of Judgment, He will not (?) bring a prophet again, and since Allah Almighty will not call anyone to account (?), He will make His religion take root. That is, He will found His religion completely, deeply rooted, on a foundation.
As for hearts being bound to one another, it is a trait Allah gave to Islam. It is a light of faith, faith.
When a person beside a polytheist, a disbeliever, is (?) by a bullet and dies, out of fear he does not go on, thinking they will kill me too. But if a Muslim's brother there in that trench becomes the target of a bullet and dies, against the disbelievers opposite his anger and strength increase. His strength increases. To eliminate them. There is a big difference. This is the light of faith. A light Allah gave to Islam. Yes.
It is a trait Allah gave to Islam. Just as when a person receives a blow from someone opposite him, the person who took the blow gets angry and attacks the man who struck, likewise in battle, when a Muslim brother beside him is wounded or, er, something happens to him, the Muslim brother who sees this, as if he had been struck himself, counting his life as nothing, is roused. He attacks the enemy opposite with greater zeal. This trait exists in the Muslim's nature because of the light of Islam. Allah Almighty does not say it for nothing: the Muslim is a brother. If someone, to your brother, someone from your brother's family, unjustly, or tried to hit him, would you not stop it? Would you let your brother be beaten?
How beautiful that He says, in Islam you are brothers. It comes out of the verses, that is. Our Lord never says His word incompletely. He is free, Allah forbid otherwise, from deficient attributes.
Non-Muslims do not have this trait. At the Battle of Badr, by giving the Muslims such a light sleep, Allah Almighty cleansed their hearts. Moreover, because of the hot weather and the enemy's great number, so that the handful of Muslims would not tire and be overwhelmed during battle, Allah, to cool the air and to remove their heat in their moment of fatigue, sent down rain from the sky, removed their fatigue and increased their zeal. From every side Allah Almighty helps the army of Islam.
Barbarossa Hayreddin Pasha too, at the naval Battle of Preveza, against the enemy fleets, against their great number, and to his aide-de-camp says, bring me a devout sailor, bring a soldier, he says.
And the aide, a soldier he knew, devout, all of them in Islam, and among them one who was a wali, someone, the aide takes and brings him.
That soldier (?).
Barbarossa Hayreddin Pasha writes something on a piece of paper.
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
Put it at the top of the mast of (?), he says.
The wind is on the enemy's side. In the enemy's favour. The wind is in the enemy's favour. When that soldier puts it at the top of that mast, the enemy, the Muslim, that wind, in favour of the Muslim fleet turns.
And Barbarossa Hayreddin Pasha arranges his ships one behind another in three lines and attacks the enemy. And there he routs them, Andrea Doria. Yes. He routs those enemy armies. Their fleets. These are devout Muslims, people who have given their hearts to Allah.
Those who fight for Allah are never defeated. If they had fought for Allah in Iraq today, they would not have tasted this defeat. Allah helped. But opposite, to face the enemy, not a single Muslim remained. That is why Allah ruined them too.
Yes.
How beautiful. It tells us history. Allah Almighty tells our past. How those Companions of Islam, those people, served Islam, He tells. And Allah Almighty tells how He did not leave them without help.
And one truly lives it there with feeling. I live it, anyway. It is as if one is truly living that moment there. Yes.
