Translation

Remember that at one time, you were a (nation of) few, known as weak on earth. You were afraid that people would capture you and Allah gave you a dwelling so that you would be grateful. Allah helped you and supplied you with pure provisions.

Tafsir

During the first years of the spread of Islam, the polytheists in Mecca began to persecute the Meccans who had become Muslims in order to prevent the spread of Islam. They even went further and started to kill those among them who were weak in substance in order to intimidate them. Other Muslims began to fear for their lives. Since the Muslims were few in number and helpless in Makkah, they were worried that the polytheists would take some of them away at any moment and kill them.

This verse refers only to the small community of Muslims in Makkah al-Mukarrama. It mentions the small and helpless Islamic community in Makkah, before Islam began to spread as a sprout, and shows them as an example to the people.

Then Allah sent these few and helpless Muslims to Madinah Munawwara by Allah's command, and they met their brothers and sisters from Madinah who were in Madinah Munawwara and had just become Muslims (each Muslim from Madinah, called Ansar) and embraced each Muslim from Mecca (called Muhajirin), and the people shared their wealth and homes with the Muhajirin.

That is why Allah has declared Muslims to be brothers, so that Muslims may be grateful, so that they may be free from persecution. For the sake of Allah, for the sake of Allah, the people who embrace Allah's commands, the people who believe, are each other's brothers. Allah is with those who do not turn away from Allah and His Messenger, enduring persecution and hardship in this realm of property, which is the realm of the unseen for mankind.

In this verse, Allah declares that those who do not turn away from Allah and His Messenger, who do not compromise on their religion by enduring all kinds of persecution and suffering, Allah is with them and has brought them to salvation, and that He will be with those who behave in this way, and that the society that Allah is with cannot be dominated by anyone. And those of them who die in battle for the sake of Allah, according to the verse that says that Allah loves them very much (Allah wants to make martyrs among you), He takes them as examples for people and grants them great ranks.

When Allah compares man to property, He does not value the realm of property in comparison to man. According to the verse "All souls will taste death", Allah loves those who love Allah, those who do not compromise Allah's religion for Allah's sake, those who do not follow their nafs and pursue pleasure, and those who protect themselves from the fire of sedition. He prepares reasons for His beloved ones to attain high positions, either by making them pass on to the Hereafter with the rank of martyrdom or by giving them calamities to show examples to other people with their tolerance of calamities for the sake of Allah, because they love Allah so much, and He makes such people heirs to His heavens by bestowing high ranks and endless blessings on such people in the Hereafter.

This verse indicates that those who are with Allah and His Apostle will eventually attain peace and happiness in this world and the Hereafter. However, it is also a blessing of Allah that people do not know what is lawful and unlawful to eat and drink, so Allah (swt) has revealed His Verses to them, and those who judge by them are saved from the sins they would commit.

What is said in the video

Verse 26: Remember when at one time you were a small community, regarded as weak in the land, He says.

You feared that people would snatch you away; so that you might be grateful, Allah gave you a place and a home. He supported you with His help and gave you of the pure provisions.

Although this verse addresses the past, it means: remember when at one time you were a small community regarded as weak in the land, He says. You feared that people would snatch you away; so that you might be grateful, Allah gave you a place and a home, supported you with His help, gave you of the pure provisions, He says. Yes, although it addresses the past, Allah's verses also correspond to the present and the future.

Although it addresses the time when Muslims first spread, many peoples, many peoples after that were few; then, that is, they were few people; Allah Almighty, with His support, gave them a place, a home and mercy, and provided them provisions.

In the years when Islam was spreading, the polytheists in Mecca, so that Islam would not spread, began to torment the Meccans who had become Muslim.

They even went further and, to intimidate, set about killing those among them who were materially weak. The other Muslims began to fear for their lives. Because the Muslims in Mecca were few and in a helpless state, they were anxious that the polytheists would at any moment take some of them away and kill them.

This verse speaks only of the small community in Mecca, the Muslims. Before Islam, as a sprout making its name heard anew, began to spread, the small Islamic community in Mecca, left few and helpless, is spoken of, and they are held up to people as an example. These are an example — Allah Almighty... Just as He said to Pharaoh in the sea: today I will leave you, your lifeless body, as a lesson to the worlds — so Allah Almighty also shows these to people as examples. These are (?) people. The Companions, the Sahaba. And such people will continue until the Day of Judgment. It continues. Because the verses address the future, until the Day of Judgment.

Yes.

Then Allah Almighty, by Allah's command, sending these few and helpless Muslims to Medina, where they met their Medinan brothers who had newly become Muslim — each Medinan Muslim, and these are called the Ansar, with each Meccan Muslim, and these are called Muhajirs, called Muhajirun — embracing them, the Ansar shared their property and homes with the Muhajirs. The Ansar. You see, they became brothers.

So Allah, so that the Muslims would be grateful and be saved from torment, declared the Muslims brothers. People who, for Allah, in Allah's way, hold fast to Allah's commands and believe are brothers of one another. Allah, in this material realm, which for people is a realm of the unseen, is with those who, enduring torment and hardship, do not turn away from Allah and His Messenger. Allah Almighty says, does He not: We are with the believers — with the believers. Those believers never compromise on Allah.

The (?) verse — that those who do not turn away from Allah and His Messenger, who, enduring every kind of torment and suffering, do not compromise their religion, have Allah with them, and that He brings them to safety, that He will also be with those who act this way, and that a community with whom Allah is cannot be brought under domination by anyone — this it makes known.

So Allah, so that the Muslims would be grateful and be saved from torment, declared the Muslims brothers. People who, for Allah, in Allah's way, hold fast to Allah's commands and believe are of one another — brothers of one another. Allah, in this material realm, which for people is a realm of the unseen, is with those who endure torment and hardship and do not turn away from Allah and His Messenger.

This verse — that those who do not turn away from Allah and His Messenger, who, enduring every kind of torment and suffering, do not compromise their religion, have Allah with them, and that He brings them to safety, that He will also be with those who act this way, and that a community with whom Allah is cannot be brought under domination by anyone — this it makes known. As for those who die for Allah in war, in their affairs, whom Allah greatly loves — 'for Allah He wished to take martyrs' — according to this verse, He takes them as examples for people, saying let them be examples, bestowing great ranks.

'Wasn't He with the believers, why did he die?' — you don't say, don't say 'why did he die'; those martyrs He wished to take as martyrs for Allah. According to His verse, with great ranks in return, Allah Almighty raises them to Himself. Yes, when Allah compares man with the material realm, next to man He gives the material realm no value. When He compares him with the material realm.

According to the verse 'Every soul will taste death', those who love Allah, who for Allah do not compromise Allah's religion, who do not follow their nafs and chase pleasure, who protect themselves from the spreading fire of fitna — Allah too loves them. For these beloved ones He prepares means so they attain high stations: these He either moves to the hereafter with the rank of martyrdom, or, giving calamities, these servants of His, for Allah, because they love Allah greatly, with their endurance of calamities, He presses, aiming to show these people as examples to other people, and upon their passing to the hereafter He bestows on such people high ranks and never-ending blessings and makes them heirs of His Paradises.

This verse — that those who are with Allah and His Messenger will in the end attain salvation, find peace, and in this world and the hereafter be worthy of happiness — this it makes known. Moreover, since people do not know which foods and drinks are halal and haram, that Allah Almighty makes His verses known to people, and that those who rule themselves by them are saved from the sins of their food — this too is Allah's grace.
