Tafsir
Allah created the universe for man. When He said to His Messenger, "I would not have created these worlds if it were not for you," He created the universe for man and man for His Essence. Whoever possesses created matter and is proud of it and despises man and uses it to hinder those who are in the way of Allah, and whoever expels the people of faith from their homes in order to turn people away from the way of Allah. If anyone opposes the worshippers of Allah, the people of faith, and attempts to turn them away from Allah, Allah has surrounded them.
Humans are created in helplessness. However, if people are so blind and arrogant that they cannot see their surroundings, as if they will rule the world, and if they think that they will eradicate Islam with their atrocities, they will be deceived. Allah is the Creator out of nothing. (Allah will complete His light until the Day of Resurrection.) According to the verse, He has programmed these worlds until the Day of Resurrection by keeping all His creations under His sovereignty. Allah (swt) surrounds those who leave their homes to prevent them from the way of Allah. They have been unjust to their own souls with the crimes they have committed. They cannot harm the light of Allah through Allah's programming of the universe. Their endeavor is to oppress their own souls. If they die in this state, they have bought torment in the eternal life of hell.
O you who believe! Do not be like them. Do not be unjust to Allah's creatures by being deceived by the temporal worldly blessings. Do not lead your own souls to destruction.
It is narrated that the polytheists in Makkah, enemies of Islam, had left Makkah to save the caravan coming from Damascus from the encroachment of the Muslims and came to a place called Juhfa. When they heard that the caravan was safe, they did not return. Abu Jahl and his companions insisted on going as far as Badr. They went there and behaved immodestly, indulging in drinking, feasting for show, and playing concubines. Finally, they satisfied their ego by making promises to each other to destroy Islam. However, Allah, Who encompasses their atrocities, made Badr a pit of hell for these polytheists when they fought against the armies of Islam at Badr, where they had decided to destroy Islam.
Allah will complete His light, and the dreams and desires of the kuffar to destroy Islam will remain in their hearts as heartache, and every soul will be held to account for what it has done.
What is said in the video
What does it say? In our third volume, Surah Al-Anfal — first let us read the wrong one.
Verse 47: To swagger, to show off to people and to keep people from the way of Allah — do not be like the unbelievers who left their homes, it says.
For Allah encompasses all that they do, it says. Now, where is it wrong here?
The unbeliever, to swagger, to turn people from their religion — he does not leave his home for that. He doesn't leave his home.
Since they are all copies of one another, they all wrote the same. To swagger, to show off to people and to keep people from the way of Allah, do not be like the unbelievers who leave their homes. Whereas: do not be like the unbelievers who drove them out of their homes. Whom? Those oppressed ones — like those who seized their property, or who themselves, in pride and arrogance, distribute their property — like those who distribute those poor ones' property, like how they drove them from their homes, how they reduced them to misery — do not be like that, it says. Yes: To swagger, to show off to people and to keep people from the way of Allah — do not be like the unbelievers who drove them from their homes.
Not like the unbelievers who left their homes. Do not be like the unbelievers who drove them from their homes. Allah encompasses all that they do, it says. Yes.
Isn't that so, Ender?
In the verse the unbelievers are not leaving their homes, are they? The ones who drove out.
Yes, our dear Ender is listening but not asking questions. He used to ask good questions.
Allah Almighty created the universe for the human. That is, why was this universe created? So that His essence would be known. And for His essence to be known He created the human, to whom He gave a part of His spirit. So for the human to be able to know his Lord, time and space were needed. So everything was created for this human. And Allah Almighty created the human so that he would know His essence.
Allah Almighty says to the Prophet (peace be upon him): If it were not for you, I would not have created these worlds. Yes.
My phone is reciting the adhan.
Yes.
This thing we said, 'if not for you I would not have created these worlds' — we also explained it in the previous lessons.
They say these are fabricated and so on. Actually it is a saying that is an exact counterpart of the verses. As I said a moment ago, Allah Almighty, self-subsisting, was a hidden treasure. He willed to be known.
From His light He created Muhammad, and from his light the worlds. So, if the Beloved of the Almighty, the Seal of the Prophets, Muhammad (peace be upon him), had not been, would these worlds exist? (?) had you not been, you would not have created these worlds. That is, I willed My essence to be known. From My light — you, then I gave you a part of My spirit, He says. Through you I wanted His essence to be known. His saying 'through you' to the Prophet — since He created all humans indirectly from his spirit, 'through you' encompasses them.
So Allah Almighty also tells with His verses how honored the human is, that He created him honored above the worlds. So Allah Almighty created these worlds for the human.
And He created the human for His essence. Look, we are saying it already. Whoever owns created goods and boasts of these goods, holds the human in contempt, and uses the goods in his hand to bar those on Allah's way — like the missionaries today spending, for their false religions, trillions, trillions. Yes. And if, to turn people from Allah's way, he drives the people of faith from their homes, stands against those who worship Allah, the people of faith, and sets about turning them from Allah, then Allah too has surrounded them on all sides. Well, Hodja, where were they surrounded, when today everywhere Muslim blood is flowing? There is such unrest in them, there is such fear in them; with that unrest and fear, hunger and stinginess, those wretched people writhing with fear of want in stress and unrest try to carry on their lives, and they, they, yes, those non-Muslims, to escape that unrest for a moment, cling to the alcohol Allah has forbidden.
Look, everywhere wife, daughter, family and children at home drink alcohol. Losing their own (?), they think for a moment that they are living. And when they sober up they arrive at a worse state. So in this case they are surrounded on all sides by their feelings. By the limits of their minds, by the calamities they suffer, from every side, they are surrounded on all sides.
Humans were created in helplessness. That is, created in need of Allah. When we say helplessness — unaware of oneself or in a state of being unable to manage oneself — no. Created in need of Allah. That is helplessness. Yes, we are in helplessness before Allah. Otherwise He called the human capable; since He gave him of His spirit, the human is capable. His mind, to manage him, to distinguish the true and the good, was created so. But since the mind was created limited, since creating belongs to Allah, by creating the mind's capacity limited, however much effort a person makes, the secret of creation he will not grasp. Creating belongs to Allah.
In this case, these people who cannot grasp creation, within this helplessness with incomplete minds, will make mistakes. With these mistakes they will (?) their helplessness, ask Allah Almighty for forgiveness and pardon, and so accord with Allah Almighty's purpose in creating this human being. That is, the owner of the worlds, the absolute sovereign, is Allah; the others are servants created in need of Him in a (?) way, beings.
Humans were created in helplessness. I suppose we understood this part. However, if people with egotism in themselves, that is, selfhood, as if they would rule the world, are so blind and arrogant that they don't see around them, if they think they will abolish Islam with the oppression they commit — and we say 'if they think' — they thought that with the blowing of their mouths they would put out Allah's light. According to the verse, these, serving falsehood, resemble one who, in the air, pulls an oar. Yes.
In this way these people are deceived. Allah is the One who brings into being from nothing. Allah will complete His light until the Day of Judgment. According to the verse, keeping all He created under (?), He has these worlds until the Day of Judgment programmed. Those who left their homes to keep from Allah's way, Allah Almighty has surrounded on all sides. Those who drove out of their homes. Not those who left, those who drove out. Yes.
There is something there: those who drove out.
Yes.
Allah Almighty has surrounded them on all sides. With the crimes they committed, they have wronged their own souls. Given Allah's programming of the universe, to Allah's light they can do no harm. Their efforts are crimes against their own selves. If they die in this state, they will have bought punishment in eternal life in hell.
So, O you who believe, do not be like these, it says. Like these unbelievers, like people with ulterior motives, outside the Islamic mindset, non-Muslim — as non-Muslims think, separate ideologies do not have. If you are Muslim, if you are Muslim, your aim is worship of the one Allah; our prostration is prostration to the one Allah. Yes, O you who believe, do not be like these; deceived by passing worldly blessings, toward Allah's creatures do not be oppressive. Do not drag your own souls to ruin. Allah Almighty, on earth, in time of peace, anyone against anyone committing oppression — He does not will it.
He does not want it. How does one know, Hodja? No. In the verse: Lekum dinukum veliye din. To you your religion, and mine to me.
Yes. My religion is mine, but I, within my religion, oppress — if you say 'they are irreligious', you cannot oppress, because everyone's desire, wish and will is written for them as destiny; no one's destiny can you change. Since these destinies will not change, Lekum dinukum veliye din. Did you think you would die without proving what kind of person you are? — in that verse. No one, over anyone, by coercion, over them, by despotism, can rule. He cannot rule by force. Everyone will live free in his own thought. But there is enjoining what is right. Yes. Let us answer what he said. It is narrated that the polytheists in Mecca, enemies of Islam, to save the caravan coming from Damascus from the Muslims' assault, from Mecca set out and came to the place called Juhfa.
This narration has nothing to do with this verse. A narration — it's a narration anyway, why does it have nothing to do with it? Now, let us put it this way. Yes. The polytheists in Mecca, enemies of Islam, to save the caravan coming from Damascus from the Muslims' assault, set out from Mecca and came to (?). Now, the Muslims experiencing (?) among the polytheists is one thing, their driving them from their homes is another; the Muslims attacking the caravan, their being somewhere other than their homes, is another. This narration has no (?) connection at all. But they write it. And I put these here sometimes on purpose.
Yes. Although they heard that the caravan was safe, they still did not turn back. Abu Jahl and his helpers insisted on going as far as Badr. Yes. Going there, behaving shamelessly and indecently, for the show of drinking bouts, they put on feasts and had slave girls dance. Finally, with the pledges they gave each other to destroy Islam, their egos they satisfied. But Allah, who encompasses the oppressions they would commit — these polytheists, at the place where they decided to destroy Islam, at Badr, when they came to battle with the armies of Islam — those are separate, these are separate, it has nothing to do with this verse.
But the narration is true. This is another — the narrations about the Battle of Badr. They come there. These narrations are true; there, before they have even won the victory, they have women and girls dance, hold drinking bouts, behave shamelessly as though they had already won the victory. When these polytheists, at the place where they decided to destroy Islam, at Badr, with the armies of Islam engaged in battle, Badr became for them a pit among the pits of hell.
So Allah will complete His light; the unbelievers' fanciful wishes to destroy Islam will remain as heartache in their breasts; every soul, for what it did, will be called to account. This is their shamelessness. Well, but as I said a moment ago, this narration has nothing to do with this verse. Well.
What does it say in the verse? To swagger, to show off to people and to keep people from the way of Allah — do not be like the unbelievers who drove them from their homes. Yes. Not like the unbelievers who left their homes. Because they swagger before the Muslims. They show off to people there. To keep from Allah's way, they drive people from their homes. Yes. That narration: at the Battle of Badr, to Abu Sufyan they send word, so that he comes to the, uh — so that he comes to Badr. And Abu Sufyan does not come to Badr. And they accuse him of cowardice. Well, because they know they will win the victory.
They judge so themselves. And finally, for him to come to Badr, to Abu Sufyan they make, uh — they make recommendations. Three kilometers before Badr, on that coast. As soon as Abu Sufyan learns of this situation, he turns right back. Following another route, he (?) tries to get to Mecca. And so they accuse him of cowardice, and they themselves come to Badr and, with drinking bouts, hold debauched revelry. Yes.
