With the exception of those with whom you have made agreements near Masjid al Haram, how can idolaters have a (trustworthy) covenant with Allah and Allah’s Messenger’s side? As long as they treat you with honesty, treat them with honesty as well, for Allah likes those who abstain (from breaking covenants).

Tafsir

The tribes who honored their covenant by participating in the treaty of Hudaybiyyah and the treaty made near the Masjid al-Haram are, according to historical information, the sons of Hudhaymeh and Mudlij. They were exempted because they were faithful to their promises. Apart from them, the polytheists of Makkah and all other polytheists, including those who will come until the Day of Judgment, have no value in the sight of Allah and His Messenger. They also have no value in the eyes of the Muslims who are loyal to Allah and His Messenger because they do not honor their covenants. Because they are a covenant-breaking, covenant-keeping, aggressive people.

As long as they are honest with Muslims, Muslims will honor their covenant. For Allah loves those who are faithful to their promises and honor their covenant.

What is said in the video

Yes, except those with whom you made a treaty near the Masjid al-Haram, how can the polytheists have a valid covenant with Allah and His Messenger, it says. How can the polytheists have a valid covenant with Allah?

For it to be a valid covenant, first and foremost he must give a good covenant to Allah Almighty so that it is a valid covenant. Because they gave their covenant as deniers of Allah, waiting for the Lord of their own imagination, and because Allah Almighty knows their state, these, it says, have no valid covenant with Allah, it says. How beautifully Allah Almighty puts it. But those who see and live these worlds, and who, having seen it from them, explain the verses well with the words that pour from their tongue. Of course people, before verses (?) opened up, fall into distress. In this case, since he is not qualified, (?) said it like this, he says, he explains it this way, and they ascribe attributes to Allah Almighty too.

As long as they act honestly toward you, you too act honestly toward them. For Allah loves those who guard against breaking the covenant. Against breaking the covenant. He loves those who guard against it. That is, people's failure to keep their word among one another. For Allah Almighty shows people His own essence as an example. Who is as faithful to his word as Allah? Yes. So He wants us to be faithful to our word. When we make covenants with people in the world, He wants us to be faithful to our word. Why? He does so. Yes. Why does Allah Almighty want the Muslim to be faithful to his word? In Allah Almighty's sight the religion is Islam, He says. Tomorrow, at the Supreme Court, that polytheist — 'in My sight the religion is Islam,' I said — this one too said I am Muslim, but he did not act in a way befitting the mark of being Muslim.

What kind of Muslimness is this? If he says that person did not keep his word, if he says he wronged me, and that polytheist sues over it, what will that person say to Allah Almighty?

Yes. A Muslim cannot say to a Muslim, what kind of Muslim was this. But a polytheist says it this way to a Muslim. So a Muslim will be faithful to his word toward a polytheist. He will never shortchange him, so that tomorrow on the Day of Judgment, even if he slanders you — just as the people who film me here on video and listen, whichever video, at whatever time they listen, will always hear the same words — Allah Almighty too (?): you are lying. Look, this was the talk between you, and this Muslim, because he feared Me, kept his word toward you, He will say, and accusing him of lying He will send him to the place he deserves.

That is how Islam will show faithfulness to its word. It will be like this. A Muslim will keep the word he gave. Even if it is (?) to worldly interest, he will never go back on that word. The word he has given. But in these cases one may go back on one's word. You swore: I will do this like this. Then you saw that it is going toward evil. Toward the good (?), you may break your oaths. That is, the word you gave too — you can depart from your word. Then, it says, feed a poor person. or clothe a poor person. And if you can't afford that, feed an animal, it says. Allah Almighty always shows us ways of ease.

Yes. Could you give me a glass of water?

The tribes that took part in the agreement made near the Masjid al-Haram and in the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah and were loyal to their covenant are, according to historical records, the sons of Hüseyme and Müdliç. These were made an exception because they were faithful to their word. Apart from them, the polytheists of Mecca and all other polytheists, including those who will come until the Day of Judgment, have no value with Allah and His Messenger. At the same time, with the Muslims bound to Allah and His Messenger, too, they have no value, because they do not keep to their treaty. Because they do not keep their word, recognize no covenant; they are aggressive peoples.

As long as they deal honestly with the Muslims, the Muslims are loyal to their covenants anyway. Because Allah loves the people who are true to the word they give, who are loyal to their covenant.
